Oct 31

Goal achieved! Time to reflect and celebrate.

This is my final blog post in the Ultimate Blog Challenge for October – and what a sense of achievement!

31 blog posts in 31 days (not necessarily one every day, but the total is there).

Today is all about celebrating my achievement.

Reflecting on the month is interesting. Blogging definitely became easier over time, partly I think because I was in the habit but perhaps more so because I let go of my need for perfection and just got on with it.

Yes, there have been times when I  thought about giving up… on the days when I was behind a post or two, on the days when I felt busy, or uninspired!

But I have persevered and am really stoked. Why?

  • There's just something great about setting yourself a target and reaching it.

  • I announced so boldly late in September that I was taking part in this challenge, and I'm pleased that now I can say I made it (as opposed to slinking off quietly and hoping no one asks)

  • It always boosts my confidence when I set a challenge and achieve it. It lines me up for future success and breeds great qualities like determination, perseverance and commitment.

  • There is a reason to celebrate…..

What shall I do to celebrate?

  • Acknowledging and talking about the achievement is a great start… I think so often we don't sit back and recognise what we have achieved before moving onto the next thing.

  • Is that enough? I know celebrating is important and I've talked about it before, but lets face it, while I'm proud, this isn't life changing!

And what's next?

Setting another even more challenging target.

Building on the momentum and focus I have created feels important. In addition, as part of the WE Mastermind programme we are part of we have each been challenged to set ourselves a pledge to take one big action step towards our goals. And the bar has been set high. HIGH. So that's what I'm off to do next and is part of my celebration.

  • You say the challenge isn’t life changing. You are proud, but it wasn’t life changing. Really? I don’t think you have given yourself enough credit. You completed 31 blog posts in 31 days. That is an accomplishment! You sharing your story might inspire someone else to take on the challenge and who knows where that will lead. More exposure? More clients? Wouldn’t though things make an impact on someone’s life?

I haven’t read all your blogs posts. From this one alone though you reminded me of the importance of acknowleding yourself for an accomplishment. That’s something many of us forget. We just move onto the next challenge. If one person embraces celebrating their success you have changed a life.

Congratulations on your wonderful achievement! I am cheering you on for your next goal!

    • Nora thank you for pulling me up on this! I guess it is easy to down play achievements and not celebrate enough. Interestingly I have talked about this before many times… maybe it’s something I “know” but don’t “do”… so thank you for giving me permission to really celebrate!

And I’ll let you know when I set my next goal (it’s actually in the pipeline now but I@d better share it with my business partner first!)

  • Congratulations Jo! And I totally agree that you have achieved a lot with this blog series (especially because I was there when the going got tough and I know that it was really tough to stick it out!). Not only was I inspired by your effort, but knowing that you were doing such a great job of building our blog has freed up some time and energy for me to focus on the kick ass eBook we are about to release – how cool is that!!! You rock. xJ

Ps. Thanks @Nora Whalen for your inspiring comment
